Get ready to embark on a delightful journey through the rich culinary traditions of Greece with our "Taste of Greece" cheese tasting event! Greece, a land known for its stunning landscapes and legendary mythology, also boasts a deep-rooted love for cheese that dates back nearly 4,000 years. According to Greek mythology, cheesemaking was a gift from Aristaios, the son of Apollo, and the tradition continues to thrive to this day. With one of the highest per capita cheese consumptions in the world, Greeks enjoy a remarkable variety of cheeses, each with its own unique story and flavour profile.
Anu, our Co-Founder, recently returned from an island-hopping adventure in Greece, bringing back not only a selection of exquisite cheeses but also a treasure trove of olives, fig molasses, condiments, and captivating stories that reflect the vibrant Greek cheese culture. We invite you to join us for an immersive tasting experience, where you can explore the diverse flavours of Greece, including some lesser-known gems (and this does not include any feta - we will tell you why!).
Cheeses to be tasted
- Kasseri: A mild, tangy cheese with a buttery texture, perfect for melting or enjoying as is.
- Kefalotyri: A robust, salty cheese often used for frying, known as saganaki.
- Mizithra: A fresh, creamy cheese with a mild, milky flavour—perfect for desserts or drizzled with honey.
- Graviera: A hard, nutty cheese with a hint of sweetness, versatile for both cooking and pairing.
…and some more surprises, paired with authentic Greek condiments and breads!
We’ll also be setting up a long table adorned with salads, breads, olives, preserves, and condiments straight from Greece, creating a complete sensory experience.
