Cheese & Coffee Pairing

While pairing cheese and coffee may not be commonplace, it isn’t very difficult to think of them together! Think of a ricotta bar with coffee or a more indulgent Basque cheesecake. How can we forget the freshly brewed filter coffee decoction with frothy milk or cappuccino, macchiatos or a cortado! Milk with its proteins and fats play an important role in making the coffee enjoyable but cheese with its sensory qualities and textures adds a different dimension.
About the Workshop:
The Cheese & Coffee pairing workshop will be conducted at the second edition of Maverick & Farmer's Harvest Festival, a celebration of sustainable and ethical coffee practices. Apart from workshops, you can also experience a coffee cantonment walk and will have an opportunity to engage with coffee aficionados, local farmers, and the community.
Join us for a 60-minute unique session where 4 coffees will be paired with 6-9 diverse cheeses. There will be 4 rounds of coffee and cheese pairing; going from light to bold.
In each round we will explore:
- Coffee growing regions
- Provenance of cheese
- Flavour wheels and how these sensory qualities are a part of coffee & cheese
- Brewing techniques / hot and cold and how that influences the tasting
The session will be conducted by experts Namrata Sundaresan, Co-founder of Käse and Bhavi Patel, a dairy technologist.
